7^th grade

Still Life:  Students watch a still life filmstrip as an introduction to the art of still life.  They then use a viewfinder to designate the area of an arranged still life that they will be drawing.  The main objects are comprised of various cylindrical shapes against a striped backdrop.   They create 4 thumbnail sketches to determine which view will make the best composition.  The drawing is completed by enlarging and shading it.

T-shirt:  In the 1st and 3^rd quarters the Art students team up with the Tech Ed Department to design and print a t-shirt.  Students break up into groups of 4-5 to create a unique and school appropriate design which they will then draw, burn onto a screen and print unto a t-shirt.  The grade is a group allowing them to learn group dynamics similar to those found in the work place.

Ceramic Vessel:  Students sketch design ideas before creating a vessel that incorporates several extruded shapes, texture and handle(s).  The piece is colored with underglaze and glaze after the bisque firing

Students will create an original poster depicting the theme:     

              BIRD WATERCOLOR

A watercolor using a bird subject will be painted in layers over a tissue paper bird silhouette.
