Waupaca, a city of approximately 5740, is located in Central Wisconsin. As a major host to tourism, the area is rich in recreational activities through its 22 spring fed chain of lakes, rivers, biking and hiking trails, and community spirit. WaupacaHigh School is a comprehensive four-year high school with a current enrollment of 800. WaupacaHigh School’s students come from various social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.
Waupaca High School offers students opportunities to work at an accelerated pace through its Gifted and Talented program. The Advanced Placement courses include: World History, US History, Psychology, Biology, Statistics, Calculus, Chemistry, and Art Portfolio. Furthermore, students may take CAPP (Cooperative Academic Partnership Program) courses, such as: Theatre Appreciation 105, English Communications 111, English Composition 101, & American Lit. 214. These classes are offered in partnership with UW-Stevens Point and UW-Oshkosh. Waupaca High School’s fine arts program garners respect from around the state and nation. In addition, Waupaca High School offers outstanding school-to-work opportunities through Business Ed., Agriculture Science, Family and Consumer Ed., Computer Science, and Technical Ed.
Online & Distance Learning
Students have the opportunity to access a wide-range of classes, including additional AP classes, through online and distance-learning programs, such as: Apex Learning, WisconsinVirtualSchool, and KSCADE (K-12 Schools/College Alliance for Distance Education).
A total of 22.5 credits are required for graduation, including:
4 credits of English 1.5 credits of P.E.
3 credits of Social Studies .5 credit of Health
2 credits of Science .5 credit of Comp. Sci.
2 credits of Math

Waupaca High School incorporates a grading scale that varies slightly in each department. Students are ranked, as indicated on their transcripts.
Student Activities and Extracurricular Opportunities
17 interscholastic sports, 20+ Co-Curricular activities, 15 Career and Service activities, and a wide range of performing arts programs help to enhance the WaupacaHigh School experience. With national qualifying debaters & forensics team, state champion football team, nationally recognized choir performances, ranked dance team, & many other high-achieving programs, the activities are enjoyed by all students.
In the spring of 2012 a total of 49 Waupaca High School students took 68 Advanced Placement examinations. 59 percent of the scores were equal to or better than 3.0.
Test scores are not indicated on the students’ official transcripts. Unofficial scores will be attached upon request, however, students are directed to request scores directly from the testing agency.
