February 16, 2017

1. Welcome to the WLC PTG.  7 people total.  

2. Treasurer’s report.  We have a balance of $23,907.30.  

3. 2016-2017 Events.

Family Reading Night – Monday, Marcy 20th from 5 pm to 7 pm  

  • Will have Little Caesar’s pizza for dinner.
  • Liz Kneer met with Sue from the Waupaca Public Library and they will participate with reading and makerspace activities.
  • Liz met with Elizabeth Krcmar and Title 1.  They will have activities in the gym.
  • Working to line up readers.  Will just use the kindergarten wing this year.
  • School librarians will run a book fair that night.
  • We will change the name to WLC Family Night
  • Liz is still looking for volunteers.

Playground Updates

  • We paid off the remaining balance for the 3rd and 4th grade playground
  • Liz and Principal John Erspamer met with the 4K-2 grade teachers to look at ideas for the new playground.  They narrowed it down to 3 different ones.  We are getting quotes.
  • Lee recreation (the playground company) is putting plans/views/pieces together for 3 choices.  We can review, pick one and set a date for installation.  If weather cooperates, we can install this spring.  We are coordinating with the Middle School as they are also installing some equipment so we can save money.

Other activities? Possible ideas for new events.

  • Family Game Night.  Come to the WLC and play board games.  Have games so at the end of the night each family could take home a game (if we have enough money for this).  Promotes working together and good sportsmanship.
  • Family Movie Night.  Jody Pankratz said Family Video would provide movie and popcorn.  She will get more details.

Teacher Requests.  

  • Fenton/Parent, 3rd grade teachers, request $5 per student to do a special project when they go to the EAA Museum.  $180 total.  Motion by Pam Gusmer, Second by Jenny Ryan. Motion carried.
  • Crystal Vida requested an amendment to her prior Makerspace request from  few meetings ago.  We had originally approved $2,000 for her to purchase additional Makerspace.  She wanted to amend it to $2,500 total so she could add more items.  Motion by Janet Mace, second by Pam Gusmer, to approve additional funding.  Motion carried.

Walk-In Items.  

  • We are still in need of a WLC PTG Secretary for the 2017-2018 school year.

January 12, 2017

1. Welcome to the WLC PTG.  4 people total.  

2. Treasurer’s report.  We have a balance of $31,072.72 

3. 2016-2017 Events.

Computers for Education.  

  • Items will be shipped in the next week.  Approximate arrival 1/19/17.  Nicole Hahn and Heidi Cuff coordinating.
  • Handout will be circulated at school last week of January
  • Last year raised approximately $7,000.

Family Reading Night.  

  • Liz Knee and Meghan Ruffalo working to coordinate.  Need to confirm date.  Food ideas – Pizza Hut, sandwiches, hot dogs. Donations from Kwik Trip.  Liz will contact former readers.  Do we want to do a book fair at the event?  We need volunteers.  

Playground for K-2.  Update provided by Liz Kneer.  Waiting for Ryan to provide information.  Playground equipment just went on sale.  Will need down payment.  Liz will present ideas to Mr. Erspamer and teachers.

Teacher Requests.  None presented

Walk-In Items.  

  • Nomination by Jenny Ryan to make a $5,000 payment to playground previously purchased.  Liz Knee made motion to approve.  Second by Meghan Ruffalo.  Motion carried.
  • Meghan delivered thank you cards to all business who donated to the Walk-A-Thon.    Teachers have been redeeming prizes.  Meghan helping to coordinate.  May need volunteers for the popcorn party.

Welcome to the WLC PTG.  Introductions of Board members.  Went around the room and everyone introduced themselves.  11 people total.  

Treasurer’s report.  We have a balance of $8,865.38.  

2016-2017 Events.

Walk-A-Thon on 10/13/16.  Raised $18,865.38.  

Giving Bazaar.  Barb Haas is the chairperson. Set up with be 12/5/16 about 3 pm.  The event will be 12/6/16 and 12/7/16.  Envelopes and tags go out 11/18/16,  Will put on Facebook page that we need volunteers.  

Family Reading Night.  Will be in March 2017.  Liz Kneer is the chairperson.

Other ideas?

Computers for Education.  Nicole Hahn is interested in talking over for Jenny Ryan.  

Teacher Requests.  

Project Backpack--Principal John Erspamer requested $1,000 to be used for food for Project Backpack.  Motion made by Pam Gusmer to approve the funding.  Second by Molly Doray.  Motion carried.

Second Grade – Denise Hanke.  Requested $171.45 for the purchase of Add-a-Row.  Motion made by Janet Mace to approve the funding.  Second by Nicole Hahn.  Motion carried.

PTG Meeting Minutes

October 20, 2016

1. Welcome to the WLC PTG. Introductions of Board members. Went around the room and everyone introduced themselves. 14 people total.

2. Treasurer’s report. We have a balance of $14,847.88.

3. 2016-2017 Events.

-Walk-A- Thon on 10/13/16. The event went well. The pep rally to announce and hand out prizes is 11/4/16 @ 8:30 am. 4K is not at school on Fridays. If there

are any winners from 4K, a separate presentation will be made. We will do thank you notes for our sponsors. Liz Kneer will take over the Walk-A- Thon next year.

-Giving Bazaar. Barb Haas is the chairperson. Set up with be 12/5/16 about 3 pm. The event will be 12/6/16 and 12/7/16. Barb will coordinate volunteers

closer to the event.

-Family Reading Night. Will be in March 2017. Liz Kneer is the chairperson.

-Other ideas. Principal John Erspamer said that if we do an event, late March or early April 2017 would be a good time. We asked if anyone wanted to chair an

event. No immediate volunteers.

-Roles needed. We are looking for someone to volunteer for being on the WLC PTG Board (secretary needed for 2017-2018).

4. Teacher Requests.

-Second Grade – Catherine Siefert. Requested storage units for her classroom. Total cost approximately $149.80. Motion made to approve the purchase by Liz

Kneer. Second by Barb Haas. Motion carried.

-4K – Heather Froesch. Requested assistance with photo developing. Total cost $100. Motion made by Pam Gusmer. Second by Jenny Ryan. Motion carried.

-Computers – Crystal Vida. Requested Maker Space items. Total $2,033.46. Motion made to approved the purchase by Janet Mace. Second by Pam

Gusmer. Motion carried.

5. Walk-In Items.

-Waupaca Public Library – Sue Abrahamson gave an update on upcoming library events and some things that will happen in 2017. DPI recognized Waupaca as a

coding initiative city, which will bring coding to the city and surrounding communities. Sue will put together a plan.

-K-Second grade playground. We talked to the Kindergarten thru Second Grade teachers and asked what they would like to see for a new playground. The ideas

were sent to the planner. We will get 3 plans to choose from. When we get the plans, they will be presented at the PTG meeting. Possibly get them by the

November meeting.

Next meeting will be 11/17/16 @ 6:15 pm.

PTG Meeting Minutes-September 15, 2016

  1. Welcome to the WLC PTG.  Introductions of Board members.  Went around the room and everyone introduced themselves.  23 people total.  Gave an overview of what the PTG is about and what we have done for the school.

  2. Treasurer’s report.  We have a balance of $14,847.88.  

  3. 2016-2017 Events.

  • Walk-A-Thon on 10/13/16.  This is our sixth year.  This is the only fundraiser that the WLC PTG does.  Meghan Ruffalo has gotten many prizes donated from the community.  She is looking for other sponsors and for someone to assist with writing thank you notes.  Waupaca Foundry and Waupaca Dental Excellence will sponsor the shirts.  

  • Giving Bazaar.  Will be in December 2016 in the gymnasium.  Barb Haas is the chairperson.  

  • Family Reading Night.  Will be in March 2017.  Liz Kneer is the chairperson.

  • Other ideas?  Please let us know if you have other ideas.  Some events suggested were movie night, a band, soup night.

  1. PBIS Overview.  Jody Pankratz gave an overview of what PBIS is and how it works in the school and with PTG.

  2. Roles needed.  We are looking for people to volunteer for being on the WLC PTG Board (secretary needed for 2017-2018), Scholastic (Chris Jaenke volunteered), Computers for Education fundraising, Cambell’s Labels, Staff Appreciation (May 2017).

  3. Teacher Requests.  

  • Kindergarten.  Requested assistance with photo developing.  $75 per teacher, 7 teachers, total of $525.  Motion made by Liz Kneer.  Second by Meghan Ruffalo.  Motion carrier.

  • First Grade.  Requested assistance for Oshkosh Grand Theater field trip.  The cost for each student is $6.  Wanted $1 per student, for a total of $100.  Principal John Erspamer requested the item be tabled until the next meeting as he wants to make one request for all of the teachers for field trips for the entire year.

  • Banners for the WLC.  John Erspamer requested banners for every teacher in the building for outside their classroom.  It would have their name and the PBIS logo.  $20 per banner, 66 banners, total of $1,320.  Motion by Jenny Ryan. Second by Janet Mace.  Motion carried.  After the initial purchase, the WLC would buy banners when needed.

PTG Meeting Minutes

April 21, 2016

1. Welcome to the WLC PTG.

2. Treasurer’s report. We have a balance of $20,479.19 with Computers for Education funds still pending.

3. Upcoming Items

-Teacher Appreciation week. Teacher Appreciation Week is May 2nd thru May 6 th. We discussed ideas of what to do. John will talk to Patty as she is good with ideas for arranging meals and good treats. We will put cards out again for students to fill out. We will send home a newsletter reminding parents of things they can do for the teachers.

4. Rock Wall. The rock wall will be dedicated on 5/26/16 for games day.

5. Scholastic dollars. We have $142.40 in scholastic dollars that has to be spent by August. In total we have over $2,500 but we have longer to decide on how to spend.

6. Teacher Requests.

-Third Grade - $323.75 for Young Eagle t-shirts.

-Third Grade - $250.00 for durable Nicky’s folders.

-First Grade - $348 for half of field trip costs to Special Memories Zoo

-First Grade - $376.18 for communication folders and envelopes (form pending)

-Kindergarten - $289.58 for photo books for 2017 (form pending)

7. Next year PTG. We still struggle with getting others involved. Discussed having the Kindergarten and First Grade teachers asking personally next year. We will continue with current officers with Liz Kneer in-line as president-elect for the 2017-2018 school year and Meghan Ruffalo as the treasurer-elect for the 2017-2018 school year. We need a secretary-elect ideally at the beginning of 2016-2017 to help the transition the following year.

PTG Meeting Minutes

February 17, 2016

1. Welcome to the WLC PTG.  There were79 people in attendance.

2. Treasurer’s report.  We have a  balance of $22,435.34.

3. Past Events.

-Computers for Education.  Need new chairperson.  Booklets went out 1/26/16 and were returned on 1/27/16. Total raised not in yet.

4. Upcoming Items

- Family Reading/Math Night.  Event will be 3/3/16.  Will have Book Fair Wednesday after school, Thursday morning, Thursday night and Friday morning.  Dinner (Uncle Pancake) from 5 pm to 6 pm and reading from 6 pm o 7 pm.  There will be games in the gymnasium put together by Title 1.

-Rock Wall.  It will be installed over spring break by Berrens.  

-Teacher Requests.  None

-Teacher Appreciation – Tuesday, May 3rd.  Discuss at next meeting.

-PTG Update.  Pam will send home details of what PTG has been working on.

-April Meeting.  Elections.

January 21, 2016

1. Welcome to the WLC PTG.  There were 9 people in attendance.

2. Treasurer’s report.  We have a balance of $22,435.34.

3. Past Events.

-Santa’s Workshop.  Went well.  Still buying wrapping paper for next year.  Next year will be called “Giving Bazaar”.

4. Upcoming Items

-Family Reading Night.  Event will be 3/3/16.  We will follow the Waupaca Public Library Theme of “Exercise Your Mind.”  Dinner from 5 pm to 6 pm and reading from 6 pm to 7 pm.  There will be games in the gymnasium.

5. Rock Wall.  The check was sent.  Liz Kneer will follow up with the company on when we can expect it to arrive.  It will be professionally installed for insurance purposes.  

6. Computers for Education.  Need new chairperson.  We get booklets and send them home with students.  We get money for every mailable postcard. Booklets will go out 1/26/16 and should be returned on 1/27/16. 

7. Teacher Requests.  None

8. Library Update.  

The new Story Walk is up and running with Ms. Seifert’s class promoting and changing the story.  

New library program for students in Grades 3 and 4 called Rec ‘n Read.  30 minutes of reading and an hour playing in the gym.  Students ride the bus to the Rec Center.  3:30 pm to 5 pm.

Author Gordon Korman will do a presentations for the school on 3/1/16 for Grades 3 and 4.  They will walk to WMC auditorium for his presentation.  A public presentation will be at 6 pm on 3/1/16 at the library.  Each classroom teacher will get 1-3 copies of the book.

November 19, 2015

1. Welcome to the WLC PTG.  There were 10 people in attendance.

2. Treasurer’s report.  We have a balance of $43,498.21.

3. New Business/2015-2016 planning.

Events:

-WLC Walk-A-Thon.  Event took place 10/8/15.  We raised $17,755.83 this year.  Over the last five years, we have raised about $85,000.

-Santa’s Workshop.  Volunteer slips and coming in.  Barb Haas will organize volunteers.  Next year may change the name to “Giving Bazaar” or something similar.  Set up is 11/30/15, with the shopping taking place 12/1/15 and 12/2/15.  

-Family Reading Night.  Event will be 3/3/16.  

4. PBIS.  Will have an all school dance on 1/15/16.  

5. Funds/Expenditures.  

-Playground. We have made payments for the playground of $20,000.  We have $27,000 remaining.  We will pay another $10,000 towards the playground this month.  Motion by Barb Has, second by Pam Gusmer. Motion carried.

-Rock Wall.  Liz Kneer presented options for the rock wall.  There will be a 8 foot high by 16 feet long wall on two sides of the gym.  Mary Jensen memorial will contribute $5,000.  PTG will contribute the rest.  John Erpamer will look into what insurance requires for installation.  Motion by Barb Hass, second by Janet Mace.  Motion carried.  If all goes well, plan installation for Spring Break.  

-Computers for Education.  Need new chairperson.  We get booklets and send them home with students.  We get money for every mailable postcard. 

-Holiday funds for each teacher.  Pam Gusmer said that she thought it was a good idea to give each teacher $100 to spend for their classroom for supporting the Walk-A-Thon.  School district will handle distribution.  Motion by Janet Mace, second by Barb Haas.  Motion carried.

6. Teacher Requests.  

-Anne Collins-Reed, the school social worker, requested $1,000 to supplement gaps for needy students.  This would be for clothing and toiletries.  Approved.

7. Library Update.  Sue from the Library provided update on current programs at the library.  

-Author Gordon Korman will do 2 presentations for the school on 3/1/16 and 1 for the public.  No funds needed right now.  May request each Third and Fourth grade classes get books to have Korman sign.  Sue will look into the cost and give an update at the next meeting.

-International Game Day – Saturday, 11/21/15 from 10 am to 2 pm for children 8 and up.

-How to program/code computers – after school the week of December 7th.

October 15, 2015

  1. Welcome to the WLC PTG.  Introduction of Officers and Members in attendance.  There were 13 people in attendance.

  2. Treasurer’s report.  We have a balance of $28,051.83.

  3. New Business/2015-2016 planning.

Events:

  • Santa’s Workshop.  Barb Hass said that the high school policy changed and the students will need to do prearranged absences in order to volunteer.  Sign up for teachers will start 10/26/15.  Will then look for other volunteers.  Set up is 11/30/15, with the shopping taking place 12/1/15 and 12/2/15.  Will send a reminder to parents that children only have 15 minutes to shop.

  • WLC Walk-A-Thon.  Event took place 10/8/15.  It was held indoors due to inclement weather.  Money is due 10/23/15.  Assembly will be on 10/30/15 @ 8:30 am to award prizes.  

  • Family Reading Night.  Event will be 3/3/16.  More information to come.

  1. PBIS.  Staff has ideas for celebrations.  They will bring us any ideas that they would like assistance with.  

  2. Funds/Expenditures.

  • Mrs. Siefert would like to add a story walk trail behind the school.  She will partner with the Waupaca Public Library, who will provide the books.  The Rec Dept will build and install posts along the trail for $400.  Approved.

  • First and Second Grade teachers requested gift cards to develop photos for memory books.  $350 for Kindergarten and $490 for First Grade.  Approved.

  1. Library Update.  Sue from the Library provided update on current programs at the library.  She also provided some information for next summer’s program.

  2. Walk-In Items.  Mary Jensen passed away this summer.  Her family has donated $5,000 to install a climbing wall in the gym.  We will ask them if they would like PTG assistance for cost of wall and/or mats below the wall.  Liz Kneer will get in touch with them to discuss.

September 17, 2015

1. Welcome to the WLC PTG.  Overview of the PTG, what we are about.  Introduction of Officers and Members in attendance.  There were 21 people in attendance.

2. Treasurer’s report.  We have a balance of $27,317.95.

3. Events:

  • WLC Walk-A-Thon.  Letters went home this week.  Shirt orders are due 9/18/15.  Pledge sheets will go home next week.  All students walk.  Fundraising is optional.  Mr. Erspamer will send an email to teachers to generate excitement amongst the students.  Each teacher can have rewards (ex – Comet Cash, popcorn party, etc).  We have gotten prizes for first, second, third place, and for each grade level.  Liz will coordinate volunteers.  Pep rally 10/30/15 to announce prize winners. 
  • Santa’s Workshop.  Set up 11/30/15.  Students will shop 12/1/15 and 12/2/15.  Volunteers will be coordinated by Barb. 
  • Family Reading Night.  Spring 2016.  More information to come.

 

4. PBIS.  Jody Pankratz explained what PBIS is.  We are in our fourth year in PBIS.  Jody asked for possible volunteers to help in PBIS celebrations.  Celebrations will be held during the school day so everyone can participat5.Funds/Expenditures. 

5. Playground. We have made three payments for the playground that was purchased.  We have two payments remaining.  We use some of the money from the Walk-A-Thon to pay for the playground.  100% of the funds raised go back to the school.

6. Computers for Education.  Need new chairperson.  We get booklets and send them home with students.  We get money for every mailable postcard.

7. Teacher Requests.  First grade teacher Pat Hunter asked if PTG could pay $1 for each student and chaperone to attend “Fly Guy” at the Grand Opera House in Oshkosh.  Cost is $6 per person, would be reduce to $5 if PTG assists.  Motion made by Liz Kneer, seconded by Pam Gusmer.  Total expenditure is $140.

8. Library Update.  Sue from the Library said they had 600 children for the summer reading program and gave out over 1,000 books as prizes.  She  passed out an early literacy calendar.  On 10/10/15 there will be a costume swap at the library – bring a costume to trade.

April 9, 2015

  1. Treasurer's Report
    1. Box Tops
      1. Money from box tops collected was distributed to teachers
      2. Any monies left over will be rolled into next year
    2. To date, the PTG has paid $10,000 for playground equipment - we still owe $35,000
    3. We will receive $5400 for magazine sales
      1. Agreed to put an additional $5000 from magazine sales to the Waupaca School Board, this will be payment #3
    4. Loaves for Learning 5¢ for each UPC code brout in
    5. Lebels for Education- May is double points month
    6. Target - we receive about $400 per year from "Red Cards"
  2. Ideas-PTG expendtures
    1. Mr. Erspamer suggested a sign on corner (at entrance to Middle School, Learning Center)
    2. It was also suggested to change K-5 sign on front of Waupaca Learning Center.   
    3. Getting more stand-up desks was also discussed
    4. Pam Gusmer will add as a May agenda item suggestions that the school may need that the PTG can provide.
       
  3. Recap of Family Reading Night and Scholastic
    1. Second Family Reading Night very successful
      1. Approximately the same number as last year
      2. Talked about having fewer readers next year, but it was decided that having smaller groups to read to makes it easier for the reader to connect.
      3. Adult supervisors are needed in each room at all times.
      4. PA system worked well to direct people
      5. Some people were torn between going to games or readers-will try to change schedule next year, perhaps make the evening longer or start earlier
  4. Elections for PTG officers, 2015-2016 school year
    1. President Pam Gusmer, Vice President Liz Kneer and Treasurer Jenny Ryan will stay in their positions for another year.  Secretary Carol Couillard is stepping down.
    2.  Janet Mace was elected as the new PTG secretary!     
  5. Used Book Sale
    1. Idea to collect used books from WLC families and have a used book sale as a fundraiser. Collection will be in the commons.  Retired teachers would be a great resource to use as volunteers.
  6. Teacher Appreciation
    1. Actual day of Teacher Appreciation is May 5th, the entire week, (4th -8th) is Teacher Appreciation week.  Liz is sending around a list of free things that students can do each day of the week to recognize teachers.
    2. Will have a lunch that week for the teachers
    3. Will get special presents for Jackie, Patty and Mary in the office for all of their help.
    4. Monday and Tuesday (tentatively) will be the days that kids can come and make cards before school in the commons.
